Youth Talent Competition
Talent Show - 2003
The Optimist Club of Frederick, Maryland, held its Seventeenth Annual Youth Talent Competition on Saturday March 15, 2003 at the Weinberg Center for the Performing Arts. The competition was open to all middle school youth in Frederick County.
This year the Frederick Optimist had 84 middle school students try out. Of the 84 students the field was narrowed to 16 finalists. These finalists competed in the categories of Instrumental, Vocal, Dance, and Dramatic Monologue. Eight professional judges volunteered their time to judge both the tryouts and the final competition.

The Grand Prize winner receives a $1,500 U.S. savings bond. The other 3 category winners receive an $800 U.S. savings bond and the remaining 12 competitors receive a $250 U.S. savings bond.

During the 2003 talent show the audience was entertained during the intermission and while awaiting the decision of the judges by the 2002 Grand Prize Winner Mr. Teddy Kamata, dancers from Creative Dance Dimensions and the Oakdale Elementary Singing Owls.
