Every day it seems that the news is telling us about the problems caused by youth in the world. The Optimist Club of Frederick knows that the vast majority of youth are good citizens. Optimist Clubs have set aside the second full week in November to recognize youth for talent in athletics, arts, and their contributions to the community. Youth Appreciation Week is intended to make children feel important and highlight their positive contributions to society. Since 1956, this program has given Optimist Clubs the occasion to work with youth toward the common goals of education, career development, physical well-being and community service.
The Optimist Club of Frederick honors Frederick County youth for their efforts in the arts, athletics, academics and community service work during the second full week (beginning with Monday) in November.
