In 1999 an accident between a school bus and an automobile occurred in Frederick County. A member of the Frederick Optimists witnessed the accident and while helping provide first aid, noted that the first aid kit carried on the bus was not adequate for the number of injuries that had occurred.  This member brought the need for more extensive first aid kits on Frederick area school buses to the attention of the Optimist Club of Frederick. Since that time the Club has worked to assemble extended first aid kits (Trauma Kits) to be carried on Frederick area schools buses.

To date 316 kits have been assembled and given to Frederick County Schools for use on area buses.

Trauma Kits will be assembled and given to school system of Frederick County until all buses are equipped.

Each Trauma Kits cost approximately $50 and the Optimist Club of Frederick wishes to thank all those who have donated to help offset the cost of this project.  If your organization wishes to help please contact the Trauma Kit Chairperson.
