The Optimist Club of Frederick wishes to extend our sincere Thank You to all those that work so hard to keep the citizens of Frederick County Safe. 
In July 1965, a discussion between Optimist International Past President Carl Bowen and former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover resulted in the birth of the Respect for Law program. As the title suggests, the program inspires a healthy admiration for local law enforcement officials among young people.
The Frederick Optimist wishes to publicly recognize citizen involvement in law enforcement activities; to publicly recognize extraordinary or unusual acts by professional law enforcement officers while in the performance of their assigned duties; to promote, foster and encourage recognition and participation by citizens of Frederick County, Maryland, and the Mid-Maryland area in respect for law and law enforcement officials; and to serve in such other capacity as the member Optimist Clubs may deem as being in the best interest of Optimism.
During early May the Optimist Club of Frederick County works to see that law enforcement officers of Frederick County are recognized. The law enforcement agencies operating in Frederick County:
