This contest is open to students living or attending school in Frederick County Maryland only.

                                          Topic for 2006: "My Future is Bright Because ...  "

    When: March 25, 2005

    Where: Trinity United Methodist Church

    Trinity United Methodist Church is located next to the junction of
                                          West Patrick Street and US Route 15, with the entrance on Kline Blvd.  

                            Application must be post marked by: March 10, 2006

 Who: Young people who have not attained the age of 16 years prior to or on January 1 of the current school year and are educated in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean.

This and all other contests and events sponsored by the Optimist club of Frederick are open to youth in the Frederick County, Maryland vicinity.  If you are out side the Frederick County, Maryland area please check with your local Optimist Club for Optimist activities in your area. A list of Optimist clubs can be found on the Optimist International Web site, www.optimist.org.

How To Enter: Contact Chairperson Oratorical  Contest.

Photo Release: The Optimist Club of Frederick uses photos of events to let the residents of Frederick County know the accomplishments of area youth.  In addition these photos may be used as parts of press releases, on www.frederickoptimist.org, the Frederick Optimist's web site, and in other publications to let Frederick County youth know the opportunities available to them through the Optimist Club. 

Please include a copy of the photo release form - Youth   (This release is not required to enter or win.  Pictures taken may be used on the clubs web site and/or in newspaper announcements)

The Optimist Oratorical Contest gives youngsters that chance to speak to the world. More than $159,000 are awarded annually in scholarships to youth. The second most popular of Optimist International's suggested annual activities, the Oratorical Contest was first conducted in 1928.

The winners of the Frederick Optimist Club Oratorical Contest receives medallions and zone winners receive a plaque. Districts have the opportunity to provide two $1,500 scholarships or a first place scholarship of $1,500, a second place scholarship of $1,000, and a third place scholarship of $500.
