Optimist Club of Frederick
In the Street - 2003

Optimist Club of Frederick, Inc. Frederick Md

The Optimist Club of Frederick had the opportunity to join the City of Frederick In The Street on October 4th, 2003. Annually the City of Frederick closes Market Street from South Street to 7th Street for a 10-block party.  After a parade street fills with people.  Once in the street the people find food, activities for kids, local restaurants showing off their best, local churches,  local clubs and service organizations and thousands of other people.

This year the Frederick Optimist had the chance to present themselves to those In The Street.  Two tents were set up in the area set aside for the Optimist Club of Frederick on Market Street between Carroll Creek and Patrick Street.  One tent held information and displays about the clubs activities and in the other was a "fishing pond' where everyone could catch a prize.

After a cold-wet setup the skies dried out, and even thought over cast, it turned out to be a great day.  No matter how tired the club members were you could see the fatigue leave their bodies when:
    -  as a little four-year old girl  reels in her prize and seeing a string of red beads proclaims - "AWESOME" with pure joy in her voice.
    -  child after child came up and looked at the back drop and pointed out to their parent - "That NEMO"

Even after a long day every member of the Frederick Optimist Club said it was a great day and a lot of fun.

Join us in a walk through the project in the pictures below:
